“Reid’s single solo vocal is as bonny as her pretty face, and as for her fiddle-playing, it’s a long time since I have heard something that makes me so astonished.” Karl Dallas

January 2013: India

January 2013: Happy New Year & Celtic Connections 2013
Happy New Year! And I can’t think of a better way to get 2013 going than experiencing lots of fabulous music in Glagsow at Scotland’s Premier Festival, Celtic Connections! I’m playing at the opening 20th Celebration Concert in Greg Lawson’s string section, followed by Duncan Lyall’s fantastic Infinite Reflections album launch at the Mitchell Library on 20th January. The following weekend I’m on fiddle and viola with Rona Wilkie in her New Voices performance, on 27th January also in the Mitchell Library. To round things off, I’ll be in the Tron Theatre with VAMM, alongside the lovely Bella Hardy on Saturday 2nd February. For more info, go to gigs.
December 2012: Gigs, gigs and more gigs!
Well I made it home from Devon with my 2 cellos, viola, and 2 violins, luggage and casserole pot. After 30 gigs in 38 days, I will be glad of a quieter month at home! But the gigs were lovely- firstly with the Kathryn Tickell crew to conclude the Northumbrian Voices tour for 2012 and then I joined the amazing Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman on their album launch tour of England. Over and out and see you somewhere in 2013!
October 2012: VAMM in the studio!
Very excited to announce that the debut VAMM album is on it’s way! We have just finished recording at the legendary Castlesound with Stuart Hamilton and it’s due for release in April. Watch this space!
July 2012: Alasdair Fraser’s Fiddle Week
As always, it was an absolute pleasure to be back at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, teaching alongside my great friends Alasdair and Natalie Haas. The highlights were the annual jaunt to Tarskavaig, the Star Wars themed dinner dance and the SNP even joined us for an afternoon! Anyone interested attending one of Alasdair’s amazing fiddle camps, check out his website.
July 2012: Pulse of the world, BT River of Music, London 2012

I had a fantastic time in London working with the wonderful Zakir Hussain, Ganesh Rajagopalan, Rakesh Chaurasia, Abbos Kosimov, Ross Ainslie, Matheu Watson, Michael McGoldrick, John Joe Kelly and Charlie McKerron again for our show in Battersea Park. Have a look at thespace.org, where there is some footage of the gig.

Insightful yet exhilarating, Contours of Cairngorm seamlessly unites the Scottish traditional and classical genres, and musicians. Featuring myself, Mhairi Hall, Fraser Stone, Michael Bryan and the Edinburgh Quartet, this album builds on the success of Mhairi Hall Trio’s Cairngorm. The debut concert was recorded live at Celtic Connections 2011 in the Grand City Halls, Glasgow. More information here.
