As keen walkers, Laura Mandleberg and I have decided to do the amazing Cateran Trail to fundraise for the project that we both work for, Mull Music Makers.
The grassroots and much established and respected programme has hit hard times of late, with YMI knocking back our last two funding applications after over a decade of support. As we navigate new funding possibilities, there has been a huge amount of support and commitment from the Mull community and the young musicians themselves and we felt that it was our turn to try to raise some money for the cause that is so close to our hearts.
Laura single handedly set up the project in 2013 and it continues to be a vital life-line for young people on the Island, providing essential and world-class music tuition, where resources are extremely limited. I have been Lead Tutor since 2023 and we make a great team, with the support of the charity, Sound Waves.
Every donation will help to meet the shortfall in costs for this years workshops programme, which is entirely FREE for school aged kids across Mull.
The Cateran Trail is a 64-mile, circular trail through Perthshire and the Angus Glens and we’re planning to walk it over 5 days, from 18th - 22nd October.
